Laboratory Scope Metallurgical Laboratory

The Metallurgical Laboratory at Lock Joint Tube LLC. performs testing to determine mechanical properties on steel and steel tubular products for investigative and/or certification purposes. The laboratory also performs metallographic evaluations using macroscopic and microscopic examinations for purposes of investigation only. The Metallurgical Laboratory is internal to Lock Joint Tube LLC. and falls under the jurisdiction of Lock Joint Tube LLC. quality system. All certification testing is conducted only for Lock Joint Tube LLC. facilities. All other testing and analysis is conducted for informational purposes and technical support.

Metallurgical Laboratory Services and Calibrations

The Metallurgical Laboratory utilizes an accredited subcontractor to provide calibration service for the following laboratory equipment to the coinciding industry standard:

  • Instron HDX1000 Tensile Frame with Bluehill Software – ASTM E 4 Traceable to NIST
  • Instron 5982 Tensile Frame with Bluehill Software – ASTM E 4 Traceable to NIST
  • Instron Auto Extensometer and Epsilon Extensometers – ASTM E 83 Traceable to NIST
  • Wilson Rockwell Tester Model 2001TB - ASTM E18 Traceable to NIST
  • Stage Micrometer –Traceable to NIST
  • SpectroMAXx Optical Emissions Spectrometer  -  Spectro Calibration  Traceable to NIST

The Lock Joint Tube LLC. Quality Assurance Department provides calibration for the following laboratory equipment: Micrometers, Digital Calipers, Digital Height Gage, Digital Scale

The Metallurgical Laboratory uses a stage micrometer to perform verification of magnification for:
