Galvanized Steel Tubing

Galvanized steel tube is a durable, cost-effective, and versatile material that is well-suited for a wide range of applications where corrosion resistance is important.

Lock Joint Tube’s galvanized steel tubing is coated with zinc on the inside and outside using a unique application methodology. Our proprietary process creates a tube that doesn’t flake when the tube is cut, welded, bent, hole punched, or drilled by fabricators. LJT is also able to offer additional protection for our galvanized tubing with our Lock-On-Galv®. clear coat which is customizable to your specific needs.

Transform your projects with the strength and durability of galvanized tubing. Whether you're building fences, constructing greenhouses, or fabricating sturdy frameworks, galvanized tubing is your go-to solution. Say goodbye to corrosion worries and hello to long-lasting reliability. Elevate your next project with galvanized tubing – the ultimate choice for resilience and longevity. What Is Galvanized Steel Tubing?

Galvanized steel tubing is carbon steel tube that has been coated with a layer of zinc to protect it from rust and corrosion. The zinc coating acts as both a physical barrier and a sacrificial layer, corroding in place of the underlying steel and extending the service life of the tube in outdoor, humid, or chemically aggressive environments.

Because it combines the strength of structural steel with the longevity of a zinc-protected surface, galvanized steel tube has become a common material choice for industrial manufacturers who need long-lasting components without the cost of stainless steel or aluminum.

At Lock Joint Tube, our galvanized steel tubing is coated with zinc on both the inside and the outside of the tube using a proprietary application methodology. This process produces a uniform coating that resists flaking when fabricators cut, weld, bend, hole-punch, or drill the tube, which reduces tooling damage and rework on the production floor. For projects requiring an additional layer of protection, we also offer Lock-On-Galv®, our customizable clear coat to extend corrosion resistance.

Our Galvanized Tubing Advantages

  • Inside-and-out zinc coating for greater corrosion resistance than products coated only on the exterior
  • Flake-resistant coating that holds up through cutting, welding, bending, punching, and drilling operations
  • Lock-On-Galv® clear coat option for customizable secondary protection in harsh service environments
  • Suitable for powder coating and welding with predictable substrate behavior in downstream finishing
  • Cost-effective alternative to stainless steel and aluminum for corrosion-sensitive applications
  • Fabricator-friendly performance across a wide range of forming operations
  • 360+ OD shapes and sizes, the broadest variety from any mill in North America

Galvanized Steel Tubing Specifications

We manufacture galvanized tubing to the industry's most widely specified standards, and we can meet or exceed custom specifications based on your application's strength, finish, or service-environment requirements.

A513 Galvanized Tubing

ASTM A513 covers electric-resistance-welded (ERW) carbon and alloy steel mechanical tubing. A513 galvanized tubing is well-suited for structural and mechanical applications where consistent dimensional tolerances and good weldability matter, including automotive components, furniture, agricultural equipment, and OEM assemblies.

A787 Galvanized Tubing

ASTM A787 covers electric-resistance-welded metallic-coated carbon steel mechanical tubing. A787 galvanized tubing is specifically designed for applications where the zinc coating is integral to performance, including outdoor structures, fencing, solar racking, and any environment where corrosion resistance directly affects service life.

Galvanized Tubing Shapes & Sizes

Lock Joint Tube produces over 360 outside-diameter shapes and sizes, more than any other tube mill in North America. Our galvanized tube is available in:

RoundSquareRectangleOval
.605” up to 6.137”.75 x .75 up to 5.25”.321” x 1.048” up to 3” x 6” RC.227” x 1.176” up to 4.650” x 5.694 DOV

We also produce custom and specialty profiles, including rounds, squares, rectangles, ovals, non-symmetrical, and specialty shapes. If a standard size doesn't fit your design, our engineering team will work with you to develop a profile that does.

Galvanized Tube FAQs

Yes, galvanization makes tubes tougher and more durable.

No. A Round tube is able to withstand a much higher weight-per-foot than square tubing. A circle is a stronger shape than a square or rectangle due to the fact that there are no pressure points, and thus pressure gets distributed.

Yes, but it requires a skilled welder, and may require specialized procedures.
